6 Scholastic Pros: Web-based Age appropriate activities Sorted by age and subject Integrated into core subjects Research-based resources for teachers Most of the content is free Cons: Some content requires paid subscription Must have internet access Site can be a bit overwhelming so it takes some time to learn all of the resources

7 PBS Kids and PBS Kids Lab Pros : Effortlessly accessible, very high-quality graphics and abundance amount of resources for kids, teachers and parents from both PBS Kids and PBS Kids Lab. Cons: Because of the abundance amount of resources may be overwhelming. The large variety of information to consume, children may need some parent/teacher guidance to access specific television programs and/or specific games related to the television program. http://www.pbskids.org/go http://pbskids.org/lab/

8 PBS Kids and PBS Kids Labs Description: Easily accessible learning tools that features children favorite PBS characters in a variety of curricular areas. Very simple to use--but monitor if game play is your goal and not simply video viewing. Most games use the mouse or very few keyboard keys (arrows, space bar, etc.) to operate. All of the sections do require sound, so headphones may be necessary. Students may also need assistance finding the games related to each show in the beginning as there are several sections. Great for Pre-K and primary grade levels as skill review. All of the games relate to an academic or social skill--and are also good for teaching basic mouse and keyboard skills. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood focuses on social skills. Super Why and Word Girl work on literacy skills. Sid the Science Kid, Dinosaur Train, and Cat in the Hat each deal with math and science concepts. Cat in the Hat and Wild Kratts are great for animal lovers. The Electric Company covers a wide variety of topics including literacy, math, and problem solving

10 About Me My name is Kimberli Ford. I am currently a 2 nd year student at Henry Ford Community College. I am anticipating receiving my Associate degree in Liberal Arts in the winter of 2014, then I will transfer to Oakland Community College for a year of additional studies for Mental health/Social work so I will be eligible to apply for licensing as a Social Worker Technician from the State of Michigan. I will then pursue my bachelors degree from Wayne State school of social work. I made a decision to become a social worker after having a childcare facility for 14 years and seeing the need of many of the children and families in my care who had multiple needs and no resources, all while being a single mother myself to four beautiful children I was weathering a storm however, I had to stand strong. It was then I realized my passion to help others. So understanding there is truly a need that must be met in order to provide families with stability and encouragement while continuing to cope with challenges. This has made it even clearer for me that I must continue my ambition and follow my passion.
