5 A Letter From Oprah  Dear Cathedral Student,  I have always been motivated to help the struggling youth as well as other adults because, when I was experiencing traumatic events in my life, I wanted someone to help me along the way. Later in my life I moved in with my Grandmother, and she inspired me to succeed in life. From personal experiences I have learned many lessons and have a true voice to share with the community.  My way of giving back to the community is by donating several dollars to many funds to help children who are in situations like I experienced. I also have opened many foundations and charities to help the youth of America.

6 Oprah is Philanthropy  Find a cause that’s important to you as a way of giving back to the community  By helping the community you are helping the common good for all

7 How Philanthropy Supports Democracy  The availability of free press allows people to connect and form associations  In order for democracy to work everyone must sacrifice for the common welfare  Must still take care of one’s self
