Networks are the backbone of IT. The at home network is more popular and important than ever. 2
3
As a future network technician I needed practice with the basics. Also wanted to expose myself a little more to virtualization techniques and implementing network security. 3
4
Networks are everywhere. More than ever, people are working from home. To be the best IT professional you can, you have to be able to handle networking on all scales with a variety of setups. 4
5
Design and set up an at home network. Configure it to be wireless Include virtual machines Harden with basic security measures 5
6
Small number of users, probably no more than 12. Low end equipment (College Budget) Allow for everyday usages by users: downloading, surfing, file exchange, etc. 6
7
Create an at home network. Procure equipment. Set up hardwired connections. Configure Wi-Fi access Connect nodes Harden with security measures Troubleshoot Maintain network 7
8
Successfully created an at home network. Primarily wireless setup Includes virtual nodes Secured with multiple layers of protection 8

With a secure, stable wireless network you can easily perform daily activities at home without worry. This project has given me experience with setting up small networks and securing them. Also this has helped me get more familiar with virtualization. 11
12
This project has helped expand my knowledge of virtualization and has given me experience with securing small networks. As a future network tech, I’ll need to be able to use those skills every day. Add a VPN so users could work from home? Suggestions/Thoughts? Thanks for watching! justin_addison3@eku.edu 12
