4 COURSE AIMS to develop business communication skills (writing, speaking and listening) to acquire specialist vocabulary (on selected business topics) to encourage critical thinking (analysis, synthesis, foreseeing, deducing, selecting…) to understand the difference between written/spoken language and formal/informal language to learn how to use dictionaries and other reference material

8 COURSE REQUIREMENTS Regular attendance if you want to take the progress tests (kolokvij) You will not be able to take the 1st progress test if you miss more than 2 seminars You will not be able to take the 2nd progress test if you miss more than 2 seminars after the midterm test doctor's notes or other proof of absence have to be handed in on the week of your return to classes.

9 COURSE REQUIREMENTS active in-class participation (home assignments, participation in discussions); deliver a group (6) presentation in class if you want a grade 4 or 5 (without the presentation the best grade you can get is a 3); passing progress tests and/or exams.

10 TWO WAYS TO GET A GRADE 1) PROGRESS TESTING - BEFORE REGULAR EXAM DATES regular attendance active class participation Group presentation (for grades 4 and 5) Occasional pop quizzes Homework assignments midterm test + endterm test + business letters test = minimum 51% oral exam FINAL GRADE = written tests + oral test+ class participation

11 2) REGULAR EXAM DATES regular attendance final comprehensive written test (regular exam period) final comprehensive oral exam (regular exam period)

12 3. THE ORAL EXAM At the oral exam you are expected to: present business topics covered during the course and discuss them with your peers express a viewpoint on a topical issue (advantages, disadvantages, agreeing, disagreeing…) and to ask relevant questions.
