2 Pros Solar energy would help the U.S. economy become less reliant on foreign oil supplies. This means that if oil supply is short and demand is high, the U.S.’s reliance on solar, renewable energy will avoid the problems such as high gas prices. Solar panels create very minimal waste and the sunlight that they harness is and always will be free. There is no need for a national power grid, and this also allows for power to be generated in remote areas for those who don’t live near large cities or towns.

3 Cons Solar energy is still an experimental source of renewable energy, and while its becoming more and more used, it is still very new and will take several more years to become mass- produced. Solar energy is a very expensive, if not the most expensive, form of renewable energy. This is one of the main reasons as to why mass production and retail marketing has been delayed. Weather also would have an effect on solar energy. Cloudy, overcast, and any other time when the sun is not visible, solar energy would not be able to generated.
