2 WHY AUSA COMPANIES?  Find Incentives for increasing a Cadet’s military knowledge  Acquire information about the Army’s role in national defense that can be communicated to other cadets, students and community citizens  Attend meetings, participate in ceremonies and engage in Military related activities which will enhance respect for, and devotion to the United States and the Army, as well as enhancing their Army knowledge  Cooperate in furthering the aims and objectives of the Association of the United States Army

3 ADVANTAGES OF AUSA COMPANIES  Helps build a positive Army image on campus and in the community  Helps cadet adjust to Army life and ties cadet closer to Active Army  Presents cadets leadership opportunities  Motivates cadets to take advanced courses and to attain commissions  Provides opportunity for awards, scholarship money, and recognition through the support of a local AUSA chapter  Provides an opportunity for national recognition of the company and school through national level awards competition which are presented at the Annual Meeting

4 WHAT AUSA COMPANIES DO? Good companies are those which demonstrate imagination in finding projects that will assist the individual cadets, the Military Science Department, the Institution, the community, the Army, national defense, and the country as a whole - then follow these projects through to a successful conclusion through individual and company enthusiasm and hard work.

5 WHAT COMPANIES HAVE DONE  Community Service High school support  - Sponsor drill, athletic competitions  - Senior ROTC speakers  - Recruiting for Senior ROTC  - Tutor/Mentor Programs  - Collect food, toys and clothing for needy  Families during the holiday season  Awards Cadet of the Month / Quarter / Year Essay contests (Army and National Defense Issues)

6 CADET MEMBERSHIP DUES  $12.00 per year without Army Magazine Subscription  $20.00 per year with Army Magazine Subscription or 3 years at $60.00 at Cadet rate

7 BECOMING A SUBCHAPTER Chapters in the area are authorized to establish within the chapter boundaries separate Subchapters as deemed appropriate. Subchapters must be authorized in their by-laws. ROTC companies established as subchapters may be formed with a minimum of fifteen members. Each subchapter should have a Subchapter president, secretary, and as many vice presidents as deemed appropriate. The purpose of a subchapter is to raise the visibility of the U.S. Army and the Association within the community, increase membership, and serve as the Association’s representative within the given area or unit.

8 BECOMING A SUBCHAPTER (cont.) All members of a subchapter will remain affiliated with the parent chapter, but may desire to conduct their own meetings under their own identity. Representatives of the subchapter should serve as permanent members of the parent chapter executive committee and have an equal voice in chapter policy. Subchapters may not have treasurers, or separate financial records, bank accounts, etc. The parent chapter will perform all administrative support and financial assistance for all subchapters. ROTC companies established as subchapters will turnover any funds to the chapter treasurer; thereafter, all company financial activities will be handled by the chapter treasurer. Both the ROTC company and the established chapter must both concur in writing, that the creation of the subchapter is mutual.

9 WHAT DOES AUSA DO FOR CADETS AT OUR ANNUAL MEETING?  ROTC Awards Luncheon with General Officer Host and Guest Speakers  Streamers are presented for: Most Active Company; Largest Membership and Best Activities to Assist the Institution and Enhance Community Relations  Lockheed Martin, Bank of America and USAA provide monetary awards and other items to outstanding cadets and Best AUSA ROTC Companies

10 AUSA ROTC STREAMERS Most Active Company : Based on all types of company sponsored activities, such as meetings, exercises, recruiting efforts and public service. Largest Membership : Average of the company’s monthly end strength. Best Activities to Assist the Institution and Enhance Community Relations : Public Service activities which impact the institution such as traffic control, color guards, blood drives, etc.

11 WHAT CHAPTERS DO FOR CADETS  Chapters purchase JROTC Medals for presentation during award ceremonies at local High Schools.  Chapters provide and / or award gift memberships to Cadets.  Chapters invite Cadets (at no cost to the Cadet) to their General Membership Meetings.  Chapters assist in funding Cadet Organization Days.  Chapter members attend University and High School awards ceremonies and assist in award presentations.  Chapter members provide leadership discussions at Cadet events on campus.  Chapters support rifle and drill teams practices with expert advice and guidance.

12 WHAT DOES AUSA NATIONAL DO FOR CADETS?  We provide SROTC Medals to Universities and Colleges with ROTC programs for their outstanding Cadets. The number of medal sets is determined by the number of Cadets in their program (0-100 = 1, 101- 200 = 2, 201 or more = 3).  We provide a set of 2 books pertaining to Military History for Universities and Colleges to present to a deserving Cadet for outstanding achievement in their Military History Course.  Have made available Leadership Cords thru the Vanguard Company.  We provide Company Guidons for each AUSA ROTC Company at no cost.  Provide membership ribbons to new Cadet members.  Annually produce ROTC insert to AUSA News.

13 SUMMER CAMP SABERS AUSA provides sabers (engraved with an AUSA symbol) to the outstanding cadet from each battalion during summer camp sessions. We order the sabers from BeeKay Parade Equipment and have them shipped directly to Fort Lewis. We call Fort Lewis during March to determine numbers required and to verify shipping address. AUSA arranges for the engraving and the engraver bills AUSA direct.
