2 What is cyberbullying?

3 Step 1- Define the problem Cyberbullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. As it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, legislation and awareness campaigns have arisen to combat it.related technologies

4 DO NOW: Answer the following questions.  Have you ever heard about cyber bullying?  Have you ever been a victim of cyber bullying?  Do you know someone who has been a victim of cyber bullying?  Do you know someone who is a cyber bully?  How comfortable are you to be around a cyber bully?  Would you report an act of cyber bullying?  Do you think Cyber bullying is a crime?

5 How can we solve the problem of Cyberbullying? As an active member of our society, we need to do the following:

7 Nasty messages and images from identified and unidentified sources.  Taking screenshots of digital evidence from internet.  Obtain the content from the victim’s phone or the offender’s phone.  Use information from students, local, and national surveys.  Why are people engaged in Cyberbullying?  Define the Problem

10 How does the school system deal with Cyberbullying?  Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today signed legislation that will help protect students from cyberbullying as well as other forms of harassment, bullying, and discrimination. (July 9, 2012)  The law aims to protect students against all forms of harrassment.  NYC Citywide Students Code of Conduct  B36  B36 Posting, distributing, displaying, or sharing literature or material containing a threat of violence, injury or harm, or depicting violent actions against or obscene, vulgar or lewd pictures of students or staff, including posting such material on the Internet.
