1 Using a DVOM

2 The DMM or DVOM Reads Volts, Amps, or Ohms Can read temperature
Frequency Perhaps the most useful tool!!! (Next to your brain)

3 DMM/DVOM Layout Display Buttons Knob Jacks

4 Reading Volts Display Must Show DC Can Read AC or DC Set Knob to Volts
Neg (-) Black Lead Pos (+) Red Lead

5 Using the Meter; Read Across the circuit Read Across the load (drop)

6

7 Reading Ohms Display Must Show Ohms Ohms/Cont./Diode Set Knob to Ohms
Neg (-) Black Lead Pos (+) Red Lead

8 Reading Ohms ALWAYS DISCONNECT CIRCUIT POWER! You will damage meter
NEVER test for voltage while in the Ohms setting! Can also check continuity (good for fuses and broken wires)

9

10 Reading Amps Will Must Show DC Set Knob to Amps MUST SWITCH LEADS!
Neg (-) Black Lead Pos (+) Red Lead

11 Reading Amps Must have circuit power!
Cannot Test more than 10a for 60 sec! Please put leads back to Volts/Amps testing position when finished! Current runs through meter, think of it as a counter.
