Fair trade is where there is an agreement between the buyers and the farmers, so that farmers try to farm sustainably as possible and the buyers give them a fixed price that recognises the work they do fairly. In regular trade, local buyers pay as little as they can and then sell it on to exporters. There is no agreement about how the food is produced.
