2 Statement of Values We value our customers above all else. We will provide them with fast service, clean facilities, great customer service, and great food at an affordable price. We value our community. We will maintain a visible presence in our community by actively participating in community events and raising funds for local charities. We value the environment. We strive to reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever possible to reduce our environmental footprint. We value our employees. We will foster an honest, friendly, socially responsible, non-discriminatory work environment that provides leadership and advancement opportunities along with generous benefits packages. We value integrity. This means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. We value ethical standards. Our employee handbook includes Restaurant Ethical Standards, which are presented at all new employee orientations. All employees are provided with a Social Contract, clearly outlining acceptable and unacceptable behaviors in the workplace. We value transparency. We regularly report our performance in terms of the Triple Bottom Line: Financially, Socially, and Environmentally. These values permeate the way we do, and do not do, business. Our Statement of Values and Ethics Program are continually re-evaluated, always taking into account the current trends and environment. Employees are expected to use good judgment, adhere to high ethical standards, and avoid situations that create an actual or perceived conflict between their personal interests and those of Max's.

3 Community Involvement and Relations
Community involvement has always been a big part of Max’s Restaurant, and this location will be no different.  Our restaurant will replicate the current employee volunteer program used by Max’s Restaurants and will be an active participant in the community. This will be achieved by participation in and/or sponsorship of community events or local sports teams/leagues, as well as contributions to local charitable organizations. These contributions will be raised via special promotional events in the restaurant with portions of all sales going to the charities. In addition, community organizations will be invited to use our facilities for meetings. This will help to support the "triple bottom line" approach that we are implementing. Capitalizing on our downtown location in a college town, special attention will be given to the local university. Sponsoring student events and offering student discounts or promotions will help to establish our restaurant as a fixture in the community. Copies of the campus newspaper will be available in our restaurant and we will run frequent ads and coupons within it. We will also target the student population by harnessing the power of social media to maintain an online presence on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Four Square, which will offer special online promotions to encourage students to engage them and share them with their friends. We will also seek out opportunities to cater events in the residence halls on campus, as these consist primarily of freshman students from out of town. Exposing these students to Max’s Restaurant early while they are still learning local businesses can ensure repeat customers for several years.
