2 Who are Skills for Care? Skills for Care is the Sector Skills Council responsible for creating a skilled and competent social care workforce, able to meet the challenges the sector faces. We offer a wide range of support to around 40,600 establishments providing adult social care across England and help employers develop the skills and knowledge of over 1.6 million care staff. www.skillsforcare.org.uk

3 “ I know that the person giving me care and support will treat me with dignity and respect’ People’s experience of care and support depends heavily on the sensitivity and compassion of the care workers who work with them. By setting out clear minimum training standards, recruiting more apprentices and supporting the transformation of the social work profession, we will ensure that people are confident that they will be able to develop trusting and rewarding relationships with those giving them care and support. (Caring for our future: reforming care and support, DH July 2012)
