13. Points to Consider 1.Divorce was permitted, but not commanded. 2.Think twice about carrying through with it. 3.Divorce was not God’s intention for marriage but because of the fall of man, he gave regulations for it. It’s because of sin.

Mark 6-9 What God Intended 6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”

18. Mark 9:11-12 11 He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. 12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery.”

19. 1 Corinthians 7:12 12 To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.

21. 1.God intended marriage to be between one man and one woman for life. 2.Divorce was instituted as a result of sin. 3.A divorce itself is not necessarily sinful if it involves adultery. 4.The Bible Fellowship Church will only allow remarriage in the case of adultery or the death of a spouse, not abandonment.

22. 5. Divorce is not the unpardonable sin. 6. If you haven’t divorced on biblical grounds, repent to God and he will forgive you and do all you can to meet biblical expectations.
