2 Theme The role of individual employees in improving the environmental performance of organizations remains underexplored. This symposium combines a range of theoretical and practical perspectives to explore the individual-level phenomena involved in promoting pro-environmental behavior within the workplace Examples of new directions and opportunities in this domain will be presented.

3 Objectives Generate interest in individual-level pro-environmental behavioral change and it’s role in organizational environmental performance. Highlight the contribution that behavioral techniques, utilized in environmental psychology, may have for organizational scholars. Consider the role that emotion may play in engaging employees in sustainability initiatives. Discuss how OCB may be expanded to include actions that benefit the natural environment. Explore the experience of change agents in advancing their organization’s environmental activities. Stimulate discussion regarding the development of future research agendas. Spark debate regarding how management researchers may best inform practical activity with to improve organizational environmental performance.
