Goal is to Circumnavigate the Globe Spain sponsors a Portuguese sailor Ferdinand Magellan in 1519 Magellan sailed for months around the tip of South America He arrived in the Philippine Islands Magellan is killed in the Philippines in a local war Juan Sebastian del Cano leads the rest of the crew to continue the journey Arrive back in Spain after 3 years
