2 The Optimist International Essay Contest is here! This year’s official topic is “Optimism Should be a Priority”. If you are interested in entering the contest, stop by Mrs. Cirilli’s room, room 507, to pick up an application. The deadline to enter the contest is February 19.

3 February is Career and Technical Education Month in Alabama. Foley High will celebrate this event with a Career Fair on Monday from 11 am to 1 pm in the library. Please plan to visit the Career Fair during your lunch wave. This year’s celebration theme is “Recognizing Classroom Innovators!” Please have personal information such as address, Social Security number, and correct phone numbers. Some employers will have applications on hand.

4 Just a reminder that Mr. Reed is leading a trip to Italy this summer and he would love for YOU to join him! It will be a 9-day trip in June of 2016. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday at 6 pm in the FHS Library for anyone interested in the trip. Don’t miss out on this great adventure— come to the meeting on Tuesday and get all of the information!

5 Seniors, the financial aid office of Faulkner State Community College has scheduled FAFSA Night at Foley High School for you and your parents or guardians on Thursday, February 19, from 6-8 pm. Space is limited, so please sign up with Mrs. Daniels today. The sign-up deadline is Friday, February 13.

6 Seniors, Get ready for Workkeys Testing on Tuesday. Visit login.keytrain.com. Your username and password is the same you use for your moodle account.

7 Mrs. Goodwin is selling short sleeve Fireworks t-shirts for just $15. The money will be used to purchase uniforms in the future for the cheerleaders. If you would like to purchase one, see her in room 920.

8 Hey guys and gals, would you like to make your Valentine feel like 100 grand without spending 100 grand? Just simply send them a candy gram! You can purchase candy grams in room 918 or during 1st wave lunch. They are a dollar a gram and will be delivered during skinny block on Feb 13. Valentine's Day is just around the corner and we would like to help you spread the love!

9 What’s Up Foley High School? Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so you need to get your Valentine’s Crush for $1. Valentine’s Crushes will be sold in the cafeteria Monday, Feb. 9-Thursday, Feb. 12. If you want to purchase one before that time, you can email Ms. Porter at tporter@bcbe.org and she will send someone to your first block to personally take your order on Friday. All Valentine’s Crushes will be delivered on February 13 during homeroom.tporter@bcbe.org

10 February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and The Lighthouse Youth Task Force will be asking students to sign pledge cards in the cafeteria on Thursday and Friday for our "These Hands Don't Hurt, Hearts Can Mend" Campaign.

11 Teen Dating Violence Stats: *1 in 3 teens experience some form of abuse in their relationships. *Abuse can be as visible as bruises and physical violence or as subtle as name calling and controlling who someone talks to online. *Nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner in a single year. *Teens who have questions about their relationships can visit loveisrespect.org or text "Loveis" to 22522 to get help from trained peer advocates. On campus students can see Mrs. Beverly, School Social Worker, in the front office if you have questions or concerns.

12 Seniors: There are 5 spots still available for the senior trip in May. If you are interested in going, stop by Mrs. K.’s room – room 207 – and make your reservation.

13 Attention all 9th through 11th graders: The time is coming to begin selection of your classes for the 2015-16 school year. Are you looking for something to take the monotony out of your average school day? What about classes to teach important life skills while having fun at the same time? Check out Foley High’s Theatre Class offerings. Theatre I introduces you to the basics that make your favorite actors shine on the big screen! Do you think you have some hidden talent? Join Ms. Andersen in Theatre I.

14 For those of you who have already taken Theatre I, sign up for the upper levels of theatre courses available…Theatre II, III, and IV. Each level takes you a step further in your theatre education and experience. Theatre Production, a course offered for the first time this year, is the perfect class for any student who has successfully completed Theatre II.

15 Each of these courses will add excitement and adventure to your 2015-16 schedule, so be sure to sign up! If you have questions, see Ms. Andersen in Room 402.

16 It's that time of year again. Prom Season!! The Heritage Junior Women's Club is proud to announce yet another year of Emily's Closet Prom Dress Giveaway. This year the event will be held on Saturday March 7th from 9am-12pm in the cafeteria at Baldwin County High School. They have plenty of dresses and they would love to get these dresses in the hands of the young ladies at Foley High School!

17 The blood drive will be held on Thursday, February 19 in the training room from 8 am to 2 pm. Students can sign up in their homeroom or room 301. Consent forms may also be picked up in room 301. Requirements to donate: -Must be 16 years old or older. -ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE CONSENT FORM SIGNED BY PARENTS (EVEN IF THEY ARE 18 YEARS OLD) -Photo ID required on day of donation. -Must sign up by Friday February 13.

18 AP Academy shirts are on sell now thru next Friday, February 13. The cost is $15 and you can see Mrs. Lores or AP Academy teacher to order yours.

19 Seniors: The South Baldwin Education Foundation Scholarship application is OPEN!!! This is the one you guys have been waiting for. You ONLY need to fill out one application and it goes out to over 35 different scholarship committees. Visit www.sbef.net to apply. You MUST have a 3.0 unweighted GPA and a 20 ACT to qualify. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2015.

Why not apply for some of these scholarships? It’s better than having to pay money out of your pocket for a college education. Check it out today!

21 Senior cap and gown make-up pictures will be Wednesday, February 11. There is a $20 sitting fee.

22 Seniors, scholarship deadlines are rapidly approaching. Make sure you look at TuitionFundingSources.com soon. There are millions of available scholarships and they are sponsored by Wells Fargo. They also post a new scholarship everyday on their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. You can also find them by searching for TFS scholarships on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Most sholarships are not well known and are available to all students.
