FSA UPDATES

FSA Math Updates: Calculators Graphing calculators will not be used on FSA Math EOCs. (Algebra 1, Geometry, & Algebra 2) Scientific calculator will be used on all FSA math assessments grades 7 and up. Handheld scientific calculators may be provided to ALL students during the calculator-allowed session(s). FDOE will NOT provide a list of approved handheld calculators for FSA tests. They will provide a list of not-allowable functionalities for the scientific calculator.

FSA Mathematics Update The test platform has been modified so that a student can proceed to the next question without providing an answer to the current question.

FSA Mathematics Update This screen will pop up when a student tries to proceed to the next question without providing an answer.

FSA Mathematics Update

FSA Math Updates: Item Response Open Response (Natural Language Response) – Responses do not have to be grammatically correct including spelling. Student response should be clear and concise. Multi-Select Responses- Response will consist of 5 to 7 choices and student will choose 2 or more choices for the answer. All multi-select and drag and drop responses are worth 1 point. There is no partial credit.

FSA Math Updates: Item Types Multiple Choice Multiple Selections Equation Response Grid with Action Buttons Hot Text (Drag and Drop) Open Response (Natural Language) Matching Table Response Editing Task Editing Task Choice

FSA Math Update Equation Items – Types of Responses Equivalent fractions and decimals will be accepted except in items that are assessing a standard where a certain form is the expectation of the standard. A zero in the ones place for answers that fall between -1 and 1 (excluding 0 itself) is not required.

FSA Math Update Equation Items – Types of Responses Students can type in an answer using a mixed number or an improper fraction.

FSA Math Update Table Items – Types of Responses Table items require the student to type numeric values into a given table. The student may complete the entire table or portions of the table depending on the question that is being asked.

Table Item Sample The table below shows the profit that the car wash makes for various numbers of cars. Complete the table by filling in the missing amounts.

Table Item Sample Fill in the table with first 3 terms of the sequence.

. FSA Math Update Editing Task Items – Types of Responses Editing task items require the student to click on a highlighted word or phrase and enter a replacement word or phrase.

FSA Math Update Editing Task Choice Items – Types of Responses Editing task choice items require the student to click on a highlighted word or phrase and select the replacement word or phrase from the menu.

Another Example Editing Task Choice Items – Types of Responses

Items could combine more than one item type. FSA Math Updates: Item Types

FSA Math Updates: Conversions Conversions will be provided in a pop-up window for the grades 5-12 CBT and as a conversion sheet for grade 4.

Formulas Presented

Training Test FSA training tests will be updated and released by winter. FSA item specifications will be updated and released by winter. The draft Mathematics Policy document that is posted to the FSA Portal will be updated by winter to reflect the new information.
