3D Model Making Prepare a model on a level specific theme Refer to the resource CD provided by WWF for basic background information on the theme Identify challenges and solutions related to the theme in your geographic location Develop a 3D model focusing on innovative solutions

3D Model Making Models should be made by students – not produced commercially Maximum 15 students will get participation certificates per stall Recycled and eco-friendly materials are encouraged Take photographs at every stage of the model making process

Nature Carnival Stall Basics 15’ x 15’ space allocated per stall Two stall spaces cannot be used for one model Setup model on Saturday February 2, 2013 at 10 am at PAF Museum 15 Students present at the stall at 8am on Sunday February 3, 2013

Judgment Criteria Only the area within the 15x15 stall will be graded Judges will award points for responses by students – teachers comments will be disregarded Model should reflect students age and understanding More points for smart use of materials specifically eco-friendly and recycled materials

Judgment Criteria Points awarded for décor, verbal presentation, innovation, solutions presented, cleanliness and overall concept of the model

Level wise Themes 1-2: Solid Waste Management: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Reduce pressure on natural resources by reducing consumption Opt for reusable items instead of disposable Recycle previously used items to save extraction of new resources from the earth Segregate waste in order to recycle

3-4: Marine Conservation Ecosystems in seas and oceans need protection and preservation Marine species and environments are sensitive

5-6: Save Forests… Save Water Trees act as sponges for water in land Forests prevent/reduce intensity of several natural disasters

7-8: Converting Waste to Energy Municipal Solid Waste is an environmental challenge Waste generated can be converted to produce electricity

9-10: Reducing Water, Energy and Carbon Footprint Human activity impacts the earth Current consumption is 1.5 times the earth’s capacity Water is a scarce resource vital to life Humans are high energy consumers Carbon footprint is directly linked to climate change

11-13: Water & Sanitation 21% population of Pakistan lack access to fresh water 28% percentage of Pakistan lacks sanitation Several water borne diseases due to lack of sanitation Economical and practical solutions are vital in Pakistan

Universities: Green Economy An economy or economic development based on sustainable development. providing products and services that conserve resources, provide clean alternatives, reduce pollution, and repurpose waste.
