MTTS & NETS Maryland Technology Standards for Teachers & National Technology Standards How Standards Will Influence Teaching…
2
MTTS Standards I. Use online resources to ask and research a specific question –Students will be able to use technology and the internet to gather information in order to answer a specific question II. Integrate multiple digital sources to communicate information –This will allow students many modes of learning so that they are able to choose their mode of communication, so that they are comfortable and confident with technology III. Reviewing a case study and questioning social/ethical issues –Students will be able to use real life information and technology at the same time to question their personal beliefs and standards of the real world

IV. Using digital visual organizers to display information –Students can use technology to organize data collected in the classroom. They can learn what exactly can be done on the computer instead of by hand. V. Create, use, and evaluate a lesson using technology –By using technology in the classroom, it shows children not to be scared of technology, and it helps them to be more comfortable using it themselves. Also, by using technology, it reaches out to more students that have difficulties paying attention and understand in the basic, methodical ways to teaching. VI. Use SETT Framework to assess student needs –I can use this a a tool to evaluate the students, environment, task, and tools, to see what needs help, and what doesn’t quite add up. By using the framework, a teacher can create a better classroom by see what needs to be changed. VII. Create an Individual Technology Professional Development Plan –This will help plan our the future for me, as I decide what technology I want to incorporate in my class room, how I want to incorporate it, and what I want myself and the students to gain from using technology

NETS for Teachers: Extra Key Points Use technology to assess and evaluate students –Technology can serve as a huge tool in the classroom when it comes to testing and figuring out where children stand compared to other students, and to where they should be. Technology provides many modes in which children can show their abilities. Use technology to meet all learners’ needs –Students can different levels of intelligence, and learn best in various ways. With Gardner’s Multi- Intelligence Levels, its probable that some student can learn significant through technology better than any other mode. Also, technology help to reach out to each child in one way or another.

NETS for Students: Extra Key Point Use technology to aid in problem solving and decision making –Problem solving and decision making is a huge part of children's’ lives today. Many children are not exposed to proper way to solve problems in their own lives and they struggle to make decisions. Technology can help students change these attitudes and create new, innovative ways to get out of a dilemma. Collaborate, publish, interact with others, including peers and experts –This is such an important key point, because technology can provide an appropriate medium for students to interact and discuss issues, problems, ideas and thoughts with each other. Just like journals, technology can provide a place for students to share their own personal thoughts and beliefs as well without feeling like they are wrong or no worthy.
