 Christians must be careful, sober, not ignorant of Satan’s devices: 1 Pet. 5:8; 2 Cor. 11:1-4  There is a far more subtle and dangerous deceiver than Satan…His name is “Jesus”!  He is not the real “Jesus,” but is “another Jesus”: 2 Cor. 11:2-4  This “Jesus” is borne out of the fertile imaginations of men who do not like nor want the real Jesus! 3 Preaching Another Jesus

 The “Baby Jesus” is a very popular Jesus! Lk. 2:1-14  Jesus did not remain in the manger in Bethlehem! Rev. 17:14; Isa. 9:6-7  The real Jesus is active, speaks to us, commands us, demands our obedience and requires our work: Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 2:36-38; Phil. 2:9-12; Heb. 5:8-9 4 Preaching Another Jesus

 No doubt that Jesus was compassionate: Mk. 6:34; Matt. 8:5-7; Lk. 7:11-13; Jn. 11:35-36  If we get upset about error some will accuse us of not being compassionate: Lk. 10:30-37; 1 Jn. 3:17  But it is “another Jesus” that never showed anger and righteous indignation: Psa. 2:6-12; Mk. 3:5; Jn. 2:13-17; Matt. 23; Acts 17:16; 1 Cor. 11:1; Psa. 26:5; 101:3 5 Preaching Another Jesus

 Many worship a syrupy sweet, tender Jesus, always tolerant, always doting: Matt. 18:2-3; 19:13-14  The real Jesus could be as gentle as a lamb, but as powerful and tough as the “lion of Judah” ! Jn. 1:29; 12:44; Lk. 13:3-5; Jn. 8:44: Matt. 21:23-27; 22:29; Jn. 2:14-17; Jer. 1:10; Ezek. 6:11  False teachers must be exposed and identified: 1 Tim. 1:19-20; 2 Tim. 2:17-18; Rom. 16:17 6 Preaching Another Jesus

 Many view Jesus as tolerant of everything and anything! Matt. 7:1-5; 23:23  An unquestioningly tolerant Jesus is a false Jesus, “another Jesus” ! Matt. 11:28-30; 7:13-14; 7:21-23; 7:1-5; Jn. 7:24  Jesus taught strictly! Matt. 5:20; 23:23; 23:3; 28:18-20; Jn. 14:15; 1 Jn. 2:3-4 7 Preaching Another Jesus

 Many worship an earthly, temporal Jesus; which is “another Jesus”!  The real Jesus dealt with the physical, but emphasized the spiritual: Jn. 20:30-31; Matt. 26:11; Jn. 6:26-27, 66  The New Testament disciples understood the priority of the spiritual: Acts 6:2 8 Preaching Another Jesus

 Many insist on only a “forgiving” Jesus: Jn. 8:7; Lk. 5:17-26; 7:37, 39, 47; 23:42-43  The real Jesus also rebuked and condemned sinners and those in error: Matt. 23; Lk. 9:55; Matt. 16:23  So did His disciples and so must we! Acts 7:51-53; 8:21-23; Gal. 2:11-14; Matt. 18:15-17; 1 Tim. 5:20; 2 Tim. 4:2; Titus 2:15; Gal. 6:1-2 9 Preaching Another Jesus

 Many only know a Jesus that saves: Jn. 3:16  But, Jesus will also judge everyone! 2 Tim. 4:1; Acts 17:30-31; Rom. 14:10-12; 2 Cor. 5:10  Jesus not only pronounced salvation, but also condemnation and wrath: Jn. 3:36; Matt. 3:11-12; 2 Thess. 1:7-9 10 Preaching Another Jesus

11 Preaching Another Jesus  Do you believe in:  The baby Jesus without the Lord Jesus?  The compassionate Jesus without the angry Jesus?  The tender Jesus without the tough Jesus?  The tolerant Jesus without the strict Jesus?  The temporal Jesus without the spiritual Jesus?  The forgiving Jesus without the rebuking and condemning Jesus?  The saving Jesus without the judging Jesus?
