In this configuration, you can only access panels available in the format (about 200 panels currently). Install XP Mode to get access to all panels (about 550 panels). Switch to XP Mode before installing Compass XP Mode software can be downloaded from XP Mode is not available on Windows 7 Home edition. On Windows Vista OS, you will have access only to panels converted to Compass format (about 200 panels currently). More panels will be converted in a phased, incremental manner as time goes on. The Compass installation can migrate the MS Access database to the new 32bit SQL Express during Standard/Server installation. See the installation guide on the Compass CD for more information. To use Compass in a network, use the “Standard/Server” installation, which installs the Compass database, on the PC to be used as the “Server” then do the Client installation on all other PCs which will access this database over the network. Use the Database Management Utility, located at Start->Programs->Compass Windows Downloader ->DatabaseManagementUtility to change/backup/restore/migrate your database. An existing licensed SQL Server can be selected during installation of Compass , see the installation guide on the Compass CD for more information Compass is not compatible with Windows XP 64 bit OS

7 Installing Compass 2.0 Insert the Compass disc into the CD-ROM drive. The Preparing to Install screen appears. If the setup does not open automatically, browse to the CD ROM folder and run the CompassSetup.exe file. The Welcome screen appears. Click Next

Read through the license agreement and click I accept the terms of the license agreement, to accept the license agreement. Click Next

9 Installing Compass 2.0 The Installation Type screen appears.
For a standard installation, perform the following steps. Select Compass Standard/Server Installation in the Installation type dialog box. Click Next.

10 Installing Compass 2.0 The Choose Destination Location dialog box appears. The default destination folder location is C:\Program Files\Honeywell\. To change the location, click Change and specify the folder location. Click Next.

11 Installing Compass 2.0 The Database Type dialog box appears.

12 Installing Compass 2.0 Click to select the database types from the available options. Create New Compass Database. Install SQL express and create a new Compass 2.0 database. Migrate Compass Access Database Accounts. Install SQL express and Migrate all the user accounts present in access database to a new database in the local SQL server. Use Existing SQL/SQL Express Database. Continue using existing SQL Express or SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 by upgrading existing database to latest Compass 2.0 database.

In the Database Type dialog box, click Create New Compass Database and click Next.

In the Database Type dialog box, click Migrate Compass Access Database Accounts and click Next.

23 Installing Compass 2.0 The Choose the path for existing Access Database Selection dialog box appears.

24 Installing Compass 2.0 Click Browse and perform one of the following:
Select the Compass 16 directory on this computer to convert your Access database to SQL Express. The database folder can reside anywhere in your computer, except the Desktop, including a USB Drive. You need not have Compass 16 installed on the machine to convert an Access Database. You can copy the Database folder from any 16 bit Compass installation to the computer where Compass 2.0 is being installed, then browse to it when prompted. The Access Database folder can be converted from any directory except the Desktop. Click Next.

25 Installing Compass 2.0 The Start Copying Files dialog box appears.
Click Next Installation proceeds for a few minutes and the InstallShield Wizard dialog box appears. Installation is Validated Installation Complete. Click Finish You now have an Icon On your Desktop In your Start - All Programs Menu

This is a logical port name for Compass use only, and does not refer to any existing network configuration settings Then select Add Repeat, if necessary, to enable additional TCPIP ports for use in Compass Click OK when finished

Then select Add to create a new Operator

Without this authority, you cannot view the Operator or Station Data Screens. Restore / Purge Customer – Restore or completely purge customer accounts. Print Data – Print all alarm control information. Zone Screen Enabled – Access the Zone Information screen for the control. History Screen Enabled – Access the History Screen for the control. Template Screen Enabled – Access the Create Templates screen. View CSID / Proprietary ID in Panels – View the Central Station Identification Number. Change CSID / Proprietary ID in Panels – Change the Central Station Identification Number. Edit Import Subscribers – Change import subscriber options and settings. 37 Customer Setup By selecting the Customers Button on the Main Screen the Customer List will be Displayed Select Add to create a new customer

The Receiver and Acct numbers are Required as well as panel type and revision. Name and other site identifying fields are optional. Select the Panel from the Drop down list

39 Customer Setup Then select the Panel Revision. When in doubt, always choose the Highest Revision available. Compass 2.0 will do this for you by default.
