12 What led to the Operation of Desert Storm and how was it different than America’s previous wars? Iraq invaded Kuwait and resulted in the coalition forces (37 Nations) launching a massive joint attack on the Iraqi forces defeating them in a short period of time. There was a use of massive air assault followed by land troops that overran Saddam Hussein’s forces. Different from Vietnam this was a joint effort rather than just America and it ended very quickly. It was supported by Americans much more strongly by the public.
