2 www.leics.police.uk THREAT LEVEL TO UK Critical - an attack is expected imminently Severe - an attack is highly likely Substantial - an attack is a strong possibility Moderate - an attack is possible but not likely Low - an attack is unlikely In August 2014 in mainland Britain, the threat level was raised from substantial to SEVERE from international terrorism and but remains as moderate from Northern Ireland-related terrorism As assessed by Joint Tactical Analysis Centre (JTAC)

7 www.leics.police.uk Current National Terror Threat to UK Personnel – SEVERE* On 10 th October 2014 the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) raised threat level to UK Police Abu Muhammad al-Adnani is a leader and spokesman for ISIL who has issued a call for mujahideen, or Islamic warriors, in Europe, America, Australia and Canada, to kill “the disbeliever, whether he is civilian or military”. 14 www.leics.police.uk Local Impact 14 Parwinder Baning, 21, appeared at Leicester Crown Court Baning possessed or had ordered 92 weapons which included a 100,000-volt stun gun - twice as powerful as police tasers, knuckle dusters, pepper spray, push daggers and an extendable baton. Officers also found 37 knives including hunting knives, martial arts knives and throwing knives. Orders for three million-volt concealable stun guns. These were either never dispatched or were intercepted. Sentenced to 7.5yrs imprisonment
