Sermon 2 of 3 from the series “Stewardship ” Today’s text: I Pet. 4:10 I Tim. 4:14 2 Tim. 1:6 “Gifts are to be Given”

 All have spiritual gifts Each one should use whatever gift he has received…1 Pet. 4:10 What is the spiritual gift? The Spiritual Gift from God the Father is the Holy Spirit which is the very presence of Jesus Himself who is with and in us. From the Holy Spirit comes the “Charisma” or the “Charismata” “Gifts are to be Given”

Kinghorn also says that there are five basic principles regarding spiritual gifts. * God imparts spiritual gifts according to his divine grace. * God gives spiritual gifts according to his own direction. * God wills that every Christian exercise spiritual gifts. * God provides gifts for the purpose of ministry and service. * God intends that the ministry of the church be accomplished. “Gifts are to be Given”

 All should use their gifts Do not neglect your gift,… 1 Tim. 4:14 Misconceptions Reason for neglect “Gifts are to be Given”

 All can revive their gifts Get in the game We cannot take a passive approach to our faith Smoke to fire Use it or lose it

Things to Remember and Practice ▫The Spiritual Gift from God the Father is the Holy Spirit which is the very presence of Jesus Himself who is with and in us. ▫There are things that you are good at, but you do not know that you are good at it because you have never tried it. Fear is a major hurdle for those that do not use their gifts and talents for God. Interestingly the next verse after 1 Tim. 1:6 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of a sound mind.” ▫Christians belong on the field! We were not designed to be spectators, be were designed to be participators! (Mark Kennicott)
