2 Meet the library staff…

3 In the school year…. ~14,262 HS students visited the library on their own time ~745 items were added to the collection ~11,780 items were circulated last year

4 Library Rules All school rules apply—no food or drink—NO PHONES.
Quiet voices, no horseplay. Computers are for educational use only—must be checked out before using. Respect yourself, others, and the library environment.

5 Visiting the library… -Hours: 7:45-4:30 M-TH
-Always bring a pass and sign in. -Come with a purpose.

6 Checking out books… You may check out 2 books at a time
Loan period is 2 weeks 5 cents per book per day overdue—PLEASE RENEW books! Fines must be clear to exempt tests, get textbooks, graduate Notices are sent to you through your English teacher

9 Library Computers You must have a signed Acceptable Use Policy on file to use the computers Computer privileges may be lost and/or you will receive an office referral if using the library computers inappropriately Please print only what is necessary

11 TAYSHAS books Every year a committee of Texas librarians reads over 100 new titles and selects these books from established criteria. The list consists of fiction and non-fiction titles. The current year is displayed—all others are shelved and can be identified by a blue star on the spine.

Return orders to the library OR order online Find order forms in your English classroom OR in the library 3-4 orders placed each year

13 Bookfair LHS Library November until 5:30 daily…more information to come!

14 Book Club Meetings: We meet the last Wednesday of the month in Room 309 during lunch Activities: ~Field Trip ~Concession Stands ~Bookfair ~and lots more! Mission: 1. To promote literacy and build excitement for reading among all students and staff at LHS; and 2. To create a community of readers and provide for them the opportunity to meet and discuss books and to engage in other literacy based activities. Come join us Wednesday, September 24th, at lunch in RM 309
