3 Saskatchewan- Population The province of Saskatchewan has a population of 1 052 937 as of March 21 st 2011. The capital city of Saskatchewan is Regina. There are approximately 202 256 people living in Regina as of March 21 st, 2011.

4 Saskatchewan- Landform Region The southern part of Saskatchewan is part of the Interior Plains Region The air on the prairies is dry and the skies are usually clear The winter is long, windy and cold but has lots of sunshine

5 Saskatchewan- Landform Region The plains are made up of flat grasslands and gently rolling hills.

6 Saskatchewan- Landform Regions This area of the Interior plains is famous for grain farming and cattle ranching

12 History of Saskatchewan Saskatchewan was first explored by Europeans in 1690 and settled in 1774; prior to that, it was populated by several indigenous tribes As more settlers came to the prairies on the railway, the population grew, and Saskatchewan became a province on September 1, 1905

13 History of Saskatchewan The province's name is derived from the Saskatchewan River. Earlier, the river was designated kisiskāciwani-sīpiy ("swift flowing river") in the Cree language. Saskatchewan joined confederation on September 1 st, 1905
