1 The Assassination of Pres. Kennedy A. 1960- John F. Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, is elected President. His Vice President is Texan Lyndon B. Johnson. B. A few thousand US soldiers are serving in Vietnam, and some people want to commit more troops to stop the Communist spread. C. Kennedy supports civil rights for African- Americans, and many Southern Democrats say they won't support him in the 1964 election. D. November 22, 1963, JFK comes to Dallas, TX, to try to win support from Southern Democrats. 1. JFK and wife Jacqueline are riding in a limo through Dallas with TX governor John Connally and his wife. 2. Shots ring out, JFK is shot in the head and killed. 3. Police charge Lee Harvey Oswald, who worked in the nearby Texas School Book Depository. 4. Two days later, Oswald is transferred to another jail, when he is shot and killed by nightclub owner Jack Ruby. 5. Later a Congressional committee, the Warren Commission, investigates and determines that Oswald acted alone. 6. Lyndon Johnson becomes President and seals all files connected to the case for 75 years (until 2039.) E. The supposed series of events: 1. Limo comes around curve in Dealey Plaza. Oswald fires 3 shots in 5.6 seconds from the 6th floor of the school book depository. He uses an Italian WWII rifle. 2. Oswald runs downstairs and leaves out the front door in a crowd. 3. He goes to his rooming house, and a police car pulls into the drive, honks the horn and drives away. He immediately leaves, and 11 minutes later, shoots a police officer over 1 mile away. 4. Oswald turns around, goes to a movie theater, enters without paying, and the clerk calls the police. 5. multiple police cars and dozens of officers show up to arrest him. 6. Jack Ruby shoots him to spare JFKs wife the pain of a trial.

2 What is so strange about this case? 1. The Magic Bullet theory: one bullet made several turns, hung in the air for over a second, and caused seven wounds in two different men. It was later recovered without so much as a scratch. 2. Johnson ordered the limo washed and re-upholstered immediately, before any investigation. 3. The national archives lost Kennedy's brain. 4. The autopsy doctor burned his notes. 5. Dozens of witnesses heard multiple shots fired, from several directions. 6. Johnson orders more than 600,000 troops to Vietnam. 7. 14 minutes after JFK is shot, Dallas police put out an APB for him, using his name and a full description. Johnson announces Oswald's guilt aboard Air Force One, and is sworn in as President. The Oswald timeline: 12:15 PM- He's seen in the downstairs lunchroom calmly eating lunch. 12:30- President is shot. Oswald wipes the rifle clean of prints, hides it, runs down 4 flights of stairs past multiple witnesses, without being seen. 12:31:30- a cop sees Oswald on the 2nd floor drinking a Coke. He is not out of breath. 12:32- Oswald strolls out the front door, though it is being blocked by the police. 1:00- Oswald arrives at rooming house. 1:04- Oswald leaves the rooming house. 1:15- Cop is shot 1 mile away. 1:35- Oswald ducks into the theater. 1:40- The police arrive and take him into custody.
