1 Celebration of Culture! By: Hannah Harrell

2 Language! My family speaks English but my great grandmother’s family spoke French. This is my family! This is my great grandma.

3 Religion! My family and I are Christians. While my Grandpa was in the Air Force he founded a small mission church in Destin, Florida. Now it’s called FBC Destin. FBC Texarkana – my church! FBC Destin!

4 Government/ Laws! I am a 7 th generation American. My family has been active in politics since my 4 th great Grandfather. My family has had a District Attorney, Clerk of Court, Parish Clerk, Tax Assessor, and School Board member. This is my Grandma’s school board election. This is the school board election sign.

5 FOOD! When it comes to food we normally eat out. We love to eat Chicken Express and TaMolly’s. When we eat at home we always fix my Grandpa’s gumbo. His family owned a café when he was young. They always fixed gumbo. at at home always fix gumbo. Mullican’s Café!

6 Ethnic/Racial Background! My family and I are American, but my 4 th great grandfather, William Moore, is from Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.

7 Clothing! My favorite things to wear are Soffe shorts, Toms, American Eagle, and Aeropostale.

8 Housing! My house is not big but not small. Its 1 story and it has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. My bed frame has been overseas. My 3 rd great Aunt had the same bed frame when she was a missionary to Africa. My Mom had the same one to when she was little. This is my 3 rd great Aunt when she was in Africa.(Aunt Liza) This is my house!

9 Holidays! My family and I celebrate Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and,4 th of July, and many more. I love holidays!!

10 Customs Our family always gets together with all the cousins and we have a crawfish boil. We celebrate Easter along with crawfish. My dad, grandpa, and my uncles cook. This is my crazy cousin Sarah Beth!My grandpa cooking crawfish. Yum!! Crawfish!

11 Daily Life!! School Life Weekend Life 6:15 a.m. – wake up/get ready 10:00 a.m. - wake up/ most of the time 7:15 a.m. – leave to go to school 12:30 p.m. eat lunch 8:00 a.m. – school starts 1:00 – 6:00 p.m.- play Mrs. Graves/ St.S Cheer/ Music Expl. 6:00 p.m.- eat dinner Cheer/ Tennis 10:00 p.m. – go to bed Lunch Mrs. Monholland /Math Sunday! Mrs. Spaulding / Science 8:00 a.m.- wake up Mrs. Crank/ ELA 9:15 a.m.- church starts 3:00 p.m. school is out 12:00 p.m.- church ends Tuesday: Dance 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. 12:30 p.m. –eat lunch Wednesday: Church – 6:00- 9:00 p.m. 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. - play Friday: Football games- sometimes 6:00 p.m. –eat dinner 9:00 p.m. go to bed

12 Music! I love to listen to music all the time! My favorite artists are… Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Justin Bieber. Selena Gomez Taylor Swift Carrie Underwood

13 Art! I love to draw all the time. My great uncle is a professional artist. He has several art work in New Orleans, La and many more places. This is my great uncle Bill Iles.

14 Literature! I like to read Nancy Drew and Hoot. My cousin Greg Iles is a New York Times Best Seller. This is my cousin Greg Iles.

15 Family Traditions! One of my family traditions is going to see AD play at a football game every Christmas! Me and Will in Charlotte, North Carolina for Vikings and Panthers game.

16 Family History! My family is from Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. William Moore is my 4 th great grandfather and he traveled to New York City from Ireland. My 3 rd great Grandfather settled down in Dry Creek, Louisiana. That’s where my grandma is from. They have the land grant from 1908 for the land the house was built on. It’s over 100 years old and its still there in the same place. My uncle spends the night out there when he goes hunting. Now we call it the “Old Place”. And that’s where all my family lives now and probably forever! The Old Place! The Homestead exemption.
