5 That all students can learn. That every student is entitled to the best possible education in a positive learning environment. How do we develop a belief statement?

6 Possible ideas that may have contributed to the belief statements:  All children can learn.  All children deserve a good education.  All students should experience a positive learning environment.

8 Questions to think about:  What does your school do for students?  How are teachers prepared to help students?  Why is “TEAM” critical for success?

9 RoundRobin Individuals take turns sharing one idea from their section. If the team agrees, it goes in the center, if not, it is not entered in the consensus circle.

10 Consider the Consensus and build a belief statement for your team.  Belief statements are written on chart paper.  All team members will sign the belief statement.  Belief statements are posted on the wall.

11  Every teacher has the right and capacity to become a better teacher.  Effective professional development should be planned according to the needs of students and developed for and presented to teachers using a specific protocol for adult learning.  Instructional goals should be specific, understandable, rigorous and exciting, as progress toward attainment is monitored.

13 Participants will…  Explain how the Post Conferencing process can be used to strengthen teaching practices and connect to student achievement.  Gain a deeper understanding of the Cluster Observation Rubric and the Five Steps for Effective Learning as it relates to adult learning.  Deepen their understanding of the role of the leadership team and cluster members in tracking data and identify processes to involve students in taking ownership of their own learning.

17  The teacher evaluation post conference is the tool that connects the Teacher Performance Based Accountability to the professional growth within the school.  It is important that evaluators use the post-conference protocol and rubric so that the career teachers have a predictable experience.

18  Career teachers’ trust of the process will grow as they experience a quality post- conference every time with every evaluator. With that trust, they are more likely to enter into the post conference process open to growth at a meaningful level.

19  What do you consider when identifying areas of reinforcement and refinement? The main goal of an evaluation post conference is to provide verbal feedback and reflection opportunities to the observed teacher that is focused on professional growth for the purpose of raising student achievement.
