3 ENGINEERING What is engineering?  Engineering (from Latin ingenium, meaning "cleverness" and ingeniare, meaning "to contrive, devise") is the application of scientific, economic, social, and practical knowledge in order to invent, design, build, maintain, and improve structures, machines, devices, systems, materials and processes. 20 Now over the next 3 weeks you are going to make an Engineering portfolio in a PowerPoint Presentation. You will provide a picture for each of the branches, types, and sub-types of engineering with a description and a reason for why that picture falls under that type of engineering. You will have 3 week to do this. At the conclusion, everyone in class will present their PowerPoint to the class and will be graded by your peers.(Major 60% Mr Sheehan, 40% the average of the class.
