11 Full day hands on workshop for teacher students and faculty Pre-service students and faculty learn how to incorporate 21 st century skills, specifically communication, collaboration, critical thinking and technology literacy skills into high quality teaching and learning. Pre-service teachers will leave workshop with tools and skills they can use in teaching pracs. On-line follow-up module After the workshop, participants independently complete an interactive, on- line module reinforcing what they learned in the workshop. Participation in communities of learning Join an on-line community of innovative teachers eg Partners in learning Network, who share best practices and resources for using technology in the classroom to strengthen teaching and learning. Follow-up student projects Transfer what was learned in the workshop to R-12 setting. Key elements: Incorporation of modules into pre-service teacher training

13 This programme is being piloted across the world and in South Africa in 2010 A day seminar will be held for Deans of Schools of Education alongside the WW Innovative Education Forum in October 2010 to introduce the Teacher Education Institution (TEI) Toolkit From 2011, Microsoft and our partners will be supporting interested Universities/Teacher Training institutions in running workshops on: using the TEI toolkit, evaluating current status and planning implementation for moving along the continuum modelling use of the pre-service teacher training courseware opportunity to adopt, customise and collaborate to contribute content to the pre-service TT courseware To summarise….
