Abolition of private property Separation of Church and State End of Capitalism Not very popular, but members became union leaders in Quebec.

3 Socialist Wanted to reform politics and economics. Wanted
Free Health Care Government have greater control over public services Ex: Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (1933) Not very popular in Quebec

4 Fascist Inspired by and aligned with Hitler’s ideas.
Totalitarian nationalist regime. Adrien Arcand founds the Parti National Social Chretien in 1934. Not very strong or popular.

5 Populist Social Credit Party (“Socreds”)

8 U.Nat - Economics Agriculture basis of Quebec’s economy.
Duplessis preached a “return to the land” to end unemployment. Modernized farms Left provincial economy to private business – his government sold them resources. Much American investment.

9 U.Nat. Social Issues Left social institutions (health, education, care of the poor) to the Catholic church. They were partners. MINIMAL support to those hit by the depression (ex: mothers in need)

10 U.Nat Against Foreign ideas Trade Unions
Federal government – took over management of social measures, funded by Ottawa
