41 A quotation (a non-firm offer without engagement) is a promise to supply goods on the terms stated, which is not legally binding as a firm offer. In some extent, a quotation equals to a replying of inquiry. A firm offer is within engagement. 41

66 An order can be an acceptance of an offer or sent voluntarily by a buyer. It should be clearly and accurately written out and state all the terms of transaction. Many buyers now use printed order forms which ensure that no important information will be neglected. when placing an order with a printed order form ,it is often sufficient merely to attach a compliments slip. 66

The mode of payment for each transaction is to be agreed upon between the trading parties at the time of placing an order. There are several modes, such as Remittance, Collection, Letter of Credit(L/C), Letter of Guarantee(L/G) and Factoring. The most often adopted mode of payment in our foreign trade is L/C. 78

85 Amendment to L/C After receiving the L/C which the Notifying bank mails, the seller must immediately check the consistence between contract content and the L/C content. If errors are found out, the seller must ask for the buyer to amend immediately. The amendment situations are: L/C‘s amount, whether the partial shipment and the transportation are permitted, the packing provision, the insurance clause, the payment terms and other factors, such as extension of the L/C ,and so on. In these situations, the sellers may send a letter to the buyers for amendment of L/C.

Transport is an important part in international business. Goods are carried by several means of conveyance – by road or rail, by sea or air. At present, combined transport which is a road-sea-rail carriage widely used. When goods are transported by road, rail or air, the contract of carriage takes the form of a Consignment Note or Air Way Bill. In sea transport, the contract entered into between the shipowner and shipper may take the form of either a Charter Party or a Bill of Lading.
