1.Write down on rain drop what comes to mind while listening to the sound of rain. Tape your raindrop to the board under the clouds. Explain how the weather can have an effect on people’s moods. Is it normal to resent someone who is in a better situation than you? Should people resist following others just to fit in? Do you think it is wrong to hurt someone because they are different? 2. Reading Answer question 1 on the Theme Diagram: What does the title of the story suggest? Students in 2 groups will circle all the words and phrases that either refers to rain or rainy weather. Students in 2 groups will underline all the words and phrases that describe the sun. Students in the 5 th group will choose which one they wish the record, the rain, or the sun. Count how many times you circled or underlined and report your findings to the class. All Summer in a Day

Writing Reflection: INB, page 4 (next left page after handout) Skim the story one more time to check your work for rain or sun terms & count your number of terms. Report at your table the number of references to rain and sun in the story. Based upon how many references were counted for rain versus sun, which weather is represented more in the story?
