11. The old man spoke to me in a way that forced my attention. Could it be that his wisdom came from a greater knowing? From spirit? From heart? “The only monuments worth building are those in the hearts of others,” the words drifting like winter’s breathe. I heard without listening, and the distraction of youth made me forget. Until in my middle years I visited his resting place to sit and remember, and my heart was filled with his monument. I wept.
