2 Background “One evening in 1967, Reverend Bud Palmberg of Mercer Island Covenant Church found himself on a mission: He was combing the city in search of a runaway parishioner. His journey took him to some of the meaner streets of downtown Seattle. While wandering through rowdy Pioneer Square late at night, he encountered a world far removed from the quiet suburban community served by his church…” In March 1999: Operation Nightwatch purchased the property at 302 14th Ave S first floor has been remodeled into the current Dispatch Center, while the upper two floors provide rental housing for 24 low-income seniors

3 Mission Statement: Operation Nightwatch is an interdenominational Christian ministry serving the poor and homeless. In order to help people to attain their highest level of self- reliance we provide: spiritual care and hope for the community at night compassionate relief and shelter placement for homeless women, men, and children low-cost housing and support services for seniors and the disabled education and encouragement for others to respond to those in need

6 #homelessNOTinvisible Create strong Nightwatch social media presence Hashtag introduced at Events around Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, Storm Hashtags are a strong way to reach people today Short facts about Nightwatch on Twitter Pictures on Instagram Links on a facebook page Controversy/Problems: People could get annoyed “Its not out responsibility”

7 “A Life with No Home” Multiple Videos featuring well known and admired people in Seattle/King County Russell Wilson, Bill Gates, Macklemore Variety of Ages Disguised as homeless and Documented Posted on YouTube and Shared throughout social media with #homelessNOTinvisible Contorversy/Problems: People could feel tricked and deceived Famous people could be recognized

8 United Walk #homelessNOTinvisible to spread word of this event A march throughout Seattle with Homeless and Non-homeless people Put in to perspective how many homeless people there are Nobody wants homelessness in their city Video Document Controversy/Problem: People would not be happy with so many homeless gathering in one area… but it’s a wake up call

9 Success Stories Closing up on the campaign there would be a series of short films showing the stories of people who were able to get off of the streets with the help of Nightwatch and their life now Interviews conducted by celebrities used in original films Presented on YouTube Special feature on local News Station? Success stories are used a lot as a way to show people that their organization/company is doing what it says Controversy/Problem: Giving them help wont keep them off the streets Enough people are giving to make a difference so no need to help more
