Mother’s Day

Foundational verse “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—“so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” Ephesians 6:2-3

Take Charge Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the L ORD, now that Ehud was dead. So the L ORD sold them into the hands of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. Sisera, the commander of his army, was based in Harosheth Haggoyim…

Take Charge Because he had nine hundred chariots fitted with iron and had cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years, they cried to the L ORD for help…

Take Charge Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time. She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went up to her to have their disputes decided. Judges 4:1-5 NIV

Take Charge “In the days of Shamgar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were abandoned; travelers took to winding paths. Villagers in Israel would not fight; they held back until I, Deborah, arose, until I arose, a mother in Israel. Judges 5:6-7

“I will go with you. But since you have made this choice, you will receive no honor. For the Lord’s victory over Sisera will be at the hands of a woman.” Judges 4:9

Protective You are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7

Advocate Meanwhile, David was in his bedroom where Abishag was taking care of him because he was so old. Bathsheba went in and bowed down. “What can I do for you?” David asked.

Advocate Bathsheba answered The Aered: Your Majesty, you promised me in the name of the L ORD your God that my son Solomon would be the next king. But Adonijah has already been made king, and you didn’t know anything about it. 1 Kings 1:15-18 CEV

“Those who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God” Romans 8:14 “If we are children, then we are heirs--- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.” Romans 8:17

Doting/Nurturing “Rizpah, the mother of the two men, spread sackcloth on a rock and stayed there the entire harvest season. She prevented vultures from tearing at their bodies during the day and stopped wild animals from eating them at night.” 2 Samuel 21:10

Sacrificial “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.”

Sacrificial Mother The Lord God will give him the throne of this father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.” How can this be, Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” Luke 1:30-34 “I am the Lord’s servant. May it be to me as you have said.” Luke 1:38 GNT

“Drops everything in an emergency.” “She sent a message to her husband: ‘Send one of the servants and a donkey so that I can hurry to the man of God and come right back.” “Why today?” he asked. “It is neither a new moon festival nor a Sabbath.”

“Drops everything in an emergency.” But she said “It’s all right.” So she saddled the donkey and said to the servant, “Hurry! Don’t slow down on my account unless I tell you to.” 2 Kings 4:22-24 NLT

Faith Driven “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” 2 Timothy 1:5
