2 About Us Our mission: Inform teens about mental health issues, specifically depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Teen Help Project intends to promote healthier choices regarding mental health disorders. Use as much technology as possible to raise awareness about mental health issues.

3 Our Website The Teen Help Project website provides a description of each of the disorders while also showing the statistics from the Health Indicators Warehouse. Our website also has helpful tools that promote a healthy positive life style and provide information about our user’s mental state. The website also has links for users who seek professional assistance.

4 Helpful Tools Teen Help Project provides a quiz that assesses whether an individual tends to think of life events in a positive or negative manner. Negative thinking can lead to Learned Helplessness which is when a person loses hope and feels like he or she can’t control the situation. THP hopes to promote positive thinking. THP provides an interview with a professional psychologist about mental health.

5 THP on Twitter Teen Help Project uses Twitter to broadcast facts from the Health Indicators Warehouse daily.Twitter Facts are automatically sent by teenhelpproject.com. teenhelpproject.com THP has been gaining Twitter followers steadily. By tweeting HIW facts, THP hopes to make more people aware of mental health issues.

6 Mobile Mood Manager The Mobile Mood Manager is a mobile application targeted towards a teenage audience. Its goal is to provide teenagers with information about mental health issues- specifically depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. The app provides information in a variety of ways.

7 Rate my Mood The Mobile Mood Manager helps its users gauge their mood based on five different indicators of mood. General Mood Hope Self Esteem Guilt Worries Teen Help Project believes these five factors have the largest impact on one’s overall mood. Users rate these factors on a level from 0-10. 0 being the worst and 10 being the best. The MMM gives tips and feedback depending on the user’s mood level. We hope this rating system will help users understand their mood better and seek help if they feel depressed.

8 Get the Facts The “Get the Facts“ screen provides general information about mental health disorders. These screens give users information about symptoms and how to spot mental health disorders. The screens also provide information for what to do if someone is in need of immediate help. The Mobile Mood Manager provides simple games for helping users learn important mental health terms. – Crossword – a crossword puzzle incorporating words about mental health and the Health Indicators Warehouse – Word Scramble – a word scramble with words about mental health issues Need help solving the puzzles? Search through the MMM and THP.com for important words. THP.com

9 Data The “Quick Data” tabs are an easy way to get quick information from the Health Indicators Warehouse. The MMM provides two Quick Data tabs.Health Indicators Warehouse Depression Quick Data Eating Disorders Quick Data These tabs are able to show information at the National and State level. If State level is chosen, the Mobile Mood Manager will try to locate your State using phone’s GPS device. If no GPS device is found or the GPS function isn’t enabled the user will see National Data, or users can search the HIW database by pressing Search and typing in the desired state’s 2 letter code. The gray “?” button will show the users latitude and longitude as well as their state if State data is available.
