A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE Luke 2:15-20 When the angels left the shepherds and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby, who was lying in the manger. When the shepherds had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child.

And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned to their fields glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Matthew 2:1-5; 7-12; 16 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?

We have seen his star in the east and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was jealous of the Child called King of the Jews, and all Jerusalem with him. So he called together all the chief priests and teachers of the law, and asked them where the Christ was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet Isaiah has written.” Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said (in jest), “Go and make a careful search for the Child. As soon as you find Him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship Him.”

After the Magi heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the Child was. On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

The birth of Jesus Christ set into motion a clear DIVISION between those who love the Lord and those opposed to Him.

Matthew 10:32-36 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

For my sake a person may turn against his father. For my sake a daughter may turn against her mother. For my sake a daughter-in- law may turn against her mother-in- law. For my sake a person’s enemies may be the members of his own household.”

HEROD THE GREAT (the Roman-appointed King of Judaea)
