14 Combined Honours Programmes English and History English and Geography Flexible Combined Honours (30 credits in English)

15 Year 1 CORE MODULES: Foundations Shakespeare and the History of Ideas Reinventions Critical Theory

16 Year 2: Breadth and Depth Four modules: two before 1800 and two after 1800 Modules cover the history of English literature and culture from the early Renaissance to the 21st century SH students only (CH students may select modules as options)

17 Level 3: Specialisation Option Modules: Witchcraft, Magic, & Gender in Literature Places and Journeys Sex, Scandal, and Sensation in Victorian Literature The Gothic Tolkien: Scholar, Critic, Writer Dissertation Students choose own topics Individual supervision The culmination of the degree

22 Admissions SH English / CH English with History: Typical Offer: AAB-ABB; IB: 34-32. GCE A-Level English Literature or Literature/Language grade A; IB English Higher Level 6. CH Geography with English: Typical Offer: AAB-BBB; IB: 34-30. One AL and one AS in English Literature and a Humanities or Social Science; IB at least one HL5 and one IB SL6 in English and Humanities or SS.
