3. When beginning any Information Search it’s a good idea to review the steps of the Big6.

4. Information Search Steps 1.Task Definition—in school a teacher will give a research project packet describing the task. 2.Information Seeking Strategies– what are the possible types of information sources? Click for a list of ideas

5. 3.Location and Access—begin identifying and looking at possible sources that will work for your project. 4. Use of Information—pull specific information from sources.

31. Citing the sources you consult and use is very important. A bibliography maker guidance tool such as Easybib makes the job easier. Create an Easybib account while at school to receive the school version of Easybib. Simply copy and paste into Google Docs or Word. Some people have found the bibliography maker in Word to be user friendly as well.

32. Web Site Evaluation After using the resources available to you on the Media Links page you might still need to surf the net for additional source material. There are a variety of search engines and directories available. How do you know if the material that comes in a search is trust worthy or bogus? Here is a simple tool that works.
