2. How to form a thesis statement:
Choose a specific topic (ex. School uniforms)
Give an opinion (should be mandatory at all public schools)
Put together: School uniforms should be mandatory at all public schools.

3. Adding main points:
Choose your main points (eliminates social pressure, minimizes school disciplinary issues, improves student concentration)
Write into the end of the thesis statement
Put together: “School uniforms should be mandatory at all public school because they eliminate social pressures, minimize school disciplinary issues, and improve student concentration.”

4. Animal Farm Thesis Statement
Topic: the pigs
Opinion: are corrupt leaders
Put together: The pigs in Animal Farm are corrupt leaders.
Reasons why (main points): are selfish, abuse language, and take advantage of their power
Put together: The pigs in Animal Farm are corrupt because they are selfish, abuse language to get what they want, and take advantage of their power.

5. Your turn: Topic: the new society
Create an opinion based on this topic and write a thesis statement combining the two. (will/will not work?)
Choose three reasons to support this opinion.
Combine those three reasons with your already written thesis statement.
