2. Setting the scene In the next 24 hours 6 TYA will be diagnosed with cancer. These 6 will account for 0.6% of all the people diagnosed with cancer that day. So why are they a unique group within cancer services?

Because… Cancer is the second most common disease related cause of death in TYA The needs of this age group are different to children or older adults TYA an important time for physical, social, education and career development interruptions at this stage have lasting effects on the individual and possibly society
