3 To afford the opportunity for every youth (boy and girl) to learn, play, enjoy and excel at Lacrosse while honoring the game and respecting their coaches, officials, teammates and opponents.

4  US Lacrosse is the governing body of the Hampton Roads Lacrosse chapter  Four Leagues within HRLax  Boys HS Club  Girls HS Club  Boys Youth League  Girls Youth League  Money  Insurance  Fields

5  Started in Fall 2005 by Matt Pate  Currently one of 10 “areas” of youth lacrosse in Hampton Roads “HRLax”  There are nearly 2000 total lacrosse players in Hampton Roads  Youth players range from 5 – 14  The Bandits Youth feed four Chesapeake high school programs  Grassfield  Hickory  Great Bridge  Western Branch – new 2014

6  2014 Games span from March 8 th to May May 10 th.  One of the Fastest growing lacrosse area in Hampton Roads  2006: approx 15 youth from Chesapeake  2007: approx 35 youth  2008: approx 60 youth  2009: 104 youth  2010: 138 youth  2011: 152 youth  2012: 148 youth  2013: 154 boys youth, 39 girls youth  2014: 112 boys youth, 40 girls youth  registrations still incoming  NOTE: numbers are for boys, unless noted.

12  Chesapeake is in 6th year of Girls participation  4 teams:  U8: 6  U10: 7  U12: 11  U14: 16  (if necessary, will collapse U10 & U12 into one age group).  Registration is STILL OPEN!  Please encourage friends/neighbors

13  Coaches  All head coaches US Lacrosse Certified Level 1  Practicing @ Grassfield Elementary  Practice Schedule:  Start Feb 8 th  Sat/Sun: U8 (1:30-2:30) U10, 12, 14 (2:00–4:00)  March 9 th (DST)  Mon*/Tues/Thurs:  U8: 5:30-6:30pm  U10, 12, 14*: 6:00-7:30pm  * U14 may practice Mon as well

15  BASIC RULES  U8/U10 – No Checking  U12 – Modified Checking  U14 – Full Checking  Focus on “cross check” and player contact in general  U8 – 20 min halves (running clock)  7 players on field / Approx ½ field  U10 – 20 min halves (running clock)  12 players on field / Regulation field  U12/14 – 25 min halves (running clock)  12 players on field / Regulation Field

17  BASIC RULES  U9/U11 – NO BODY-CHECKING, U9 No Long Poles  U13/U15 – CHECKING ALLOWED, but within rules  NO ONE-HAND TOMAHAWK CHECKS  ALL AGES: 4 12-minute quarters (running clock)  SPORTSMANSHIP COORDINATOR  Parent volunteer (each game)  keep the parent sideline in order  Referees will administer, Coaches will select

18  U9 – one level  Half Field 8 v 8 – beginning of season  Full field 10 v 10 – mid-season  U11 and U13 split into A/B divisions  Based on skill, experience  Safety  Developmental  League will assess mid-season if team level needs to be adjusted  U15 – one level  Feeder High School determines team  Great Bridge / Hickory  Grassfield / Western Branch
