2. Jesus IS Coming Again! John 14:3 – And if I go & prepare a place for you, I will come again & receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Acts 1:11 –This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.

3. Jesus IS Coming Again! 1 Thess 4:16-17 – For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, & with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive & remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

4. Jesus IS Coming Again! 2 Peter 3:3, 9-10 – "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." … 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, & the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth & the works that are in it will be burned up.

5. Jesus IS Coming Again! 1 John 2:28 – And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence & not be ashamed before Him at His coming. I John 3:2 – Beloved, now we are children of God; & it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

6. THE TIME IS UNKNOWN Date-setters have their hopes dashed. “As a thief in the night” (1 Thess 4:13-5:11). But it should not “overtake” the Christian (5:5).

7. THE EVENTS ARE KNOWN Events that will NOT occur: A second chance for the Jews (Heb 9:27-28). The start of an earthly kingdom (Lk 9:27; Acts 2:29-36; Col 1:13; 1 Cor 15:24).

8. THE EVENTS ARE KNOWN Jesus Christ the Lord will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an arch angel, & with the trumpet of God (1 Thess 4:16). All who are in the graves will hear His voice & be raised from the dead; some will be given life, the rest will be condemned (Jn 5:28-29). Every soul will be given a spiritual, body prepared for one of two places (1 Cor 15:22-46; 2 Cor 5:1).

9. THE EVENTS ARE KNOWN The dead in Christ will rise first to be with Him (1 Thess 4:16). The living in Christ will rise next to be with Him (1 Thess 4:17). The angels will separate the righteous from the wicked & Jesus will take vengeance on those who did not obey Him (Matt 13:41-43, 49-50; 2 Thess 1:7-9).

10. THE EVENTS ARE KNOWN The universe will be destroyed with fervent heat (2 Pet 3:10-12; cf. Isa 34:4; Rev 6:14). Jesus will bring all the nations before Him; He will separate each person into two groups (Matt 25:31ff). Jesus will judge their works according to His word (Matt 25:31-33; Jn 12:48; 2 Cor 5:10; Rev 20:11-13).

11. THE EVENTS ARE KNOWN Jesus will render a verdict & send each soul to its eternal destination (Matt 25:31ff). Hell; everlasting fire, everlasting punishment (Matt 10:28; 25:41, 46). Heaven; eternal kingdom; eternal life (Col 1:5; Matt 25:34, 46). Jesus will do away with death & Hades by casting it into the lake of fire (Rev 20:14).

12. The 2 nd Coming of Christ HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND? Serve the Lord, through our difficulties, with “fear & trembling” (1 Peter 4:18; Phil 2:12). WHAT CAN WE EXPECT? Like Lot & Noah, expect criticism when sounding the warning about God’s judgment (Gen 19:14; 2 Peter 2:5; 1 Peter 3:20).
