Greenwash in Australia Definition Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD): …. Using, conserving and enhancing the community’s resources so that ecological processes, on which life depends, are maintained, and the total quality of life, now and in the future can be increased. Greenwash in Australia Specifications A non-sustainable design cannot be transformed into a sustainable one just by specifying. Eg, not possible to achieve thermal efficiency through the specification alone, it must be designed in. It is, however, possible to improve on the environmental impact of any design through the specification by mandating low toxicity materials, energy efficient appliances etc
