3 Technology Guidelines According to the School Board of Broward County’s Policy 5306 – Internet Use Policy: Computers and networks must be used to improve student learning and performance. Use of computers and online communication must be related to educational activities. Students shall not engage in any chat rooms or instant messaging programs. Students must not download and install any games or unapproved software

4 Technology Guidelines Students must respect the fact that computers and equipment are shared devices and use them appropriately. Students must not access or distribute offensive or obscene material. Students must not use any form of technology to bully another student or staff member. Students shall not infiltrate systems or attempt to spread computer viruses. Using technology to alter information is a felony. Students must adhere to laws regarding copyright.

5 Monitoring Technology Usage Firewalls and filters are in place to help with monitoring students use of the Internet. Teachers are monitoring students Internet usage. Teachers will keep a log of computer activity by each student.

6 Consequences for Non-compliance Inappropriate use of Computers or Networks  Documentation on TERMS  1 st offense: Loss of privilege  2 nd offense: Removal from class  3 rd offense: In-school suspension (6-10 days) Illegal use of Computers or Networks  Documentation on TERMS  Immediate Notification Form submitted to SIU  Report to local law enforcement  1 st offense: Out-of-school suspension: 10 days
