Spanish Explorer Cont. His Motivation was to find the magical fountain of youth. He searched years to find it, but never did.

Spanish Explorer Cont. While searching for the magic fountain, he had landed in a place which he later named St. Augustine on the coast of Florida.

Spanish Explorer Cont. The consequences of this exploration were really tough and interesting. He was fighting off native people and found riches along the way. But never could find the fountain of youth. The one thing he had been looking for all along. He went to explore again, but still ended up in Florida. Then he and his men were trying to settle there, but the native Americans had attacked them. And many of his men had perished. Juan Ponce de Leon was badly injured and traveled to a hospital, only to die there.

Spanish Explorer Cont. Juan Ponce de Leon was one of the explorers that traveled along with Christopher Columbus! He was also injured by the Indians and had died.

English Explorer Cont. Hudson was hired to find the way south, but he landed in what is now called New York. Hudson discovered that area.

English Explorer Cont. Hudson had discovered the area around New York. Hudson sailed along the harbor and that it was a great harbor. And many Dutch people had settled there. Hudson discovered what we call the Hudson river, Hudson bay and Hudson strait. Many Dutch had settled there because it was such a wonderful place. They were friendly with the Indians but something happened and some native Americans were killed, and so were some of his crew members. And unfortunately, it came to pass that Hudson himself had died. The consequences were very good and very bad too because they had invaded the native Americans space and even killed some of them.
