2. Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater lake in the world. Within the countries of Tanzania and Uganda, where the Africa Inland Mission works, within the 9000 square nautical miles of western and southern lake, there are 200 islands and up to one million people

4. Since the export of Nile Perch to Europe has increased, these islands have filled with fishing camps that have almost no government services, especially medical services. Some estimates are that up to 80% of these fishermen have HIV/AIDs.

6. This highly modified Cessna 185, with a 350 horsepower Lycoming TIO 540 engine, is well suited for the 3500 ft MSL elevation of Lake Victoria. While it is based on an island in Tanzania, all of it's major maintenance is performed at AIM Air's hangar in Nairobi Kenya. While it is owned by World Mission and the turbine DC3 in the background is owned by Samaritan's Purse, both are operated by AIM Air.

8. It can do some jobs which were impossible by boat and it can do more work in a given time than by boats. The first three years of service has proven it's viability, usefulness and potential for use on lakes and rivers all over East and Central Africa.
