Growing and Keeping Your Customers Wash Rinse Repeat

Don’t Underestimate the Value of Professional Development! Opportunities to learn and grow abound through our Chapters. In addition to outstanding membership luncheon speakers, Chapters present professional seminars, designed to heighten awareness of current issues facing the HR profession.

A Strong Certification Program Attracts Members! Conducting formal classes and programs to prepare for the GPHR, PHR and SPHR certification and re- certification credits sell them

Know the SHRM Tools! SHRM Tools enhance our work world We are all part of the same family On-the-job help through SHRM is a value

Celebrate Successes With Awards and Recognition! Each year many Chapters present awards to professionals and volunteers who demonstrate excellence in human resources and dedication to our Chapters.

E-News & Newsletters Keep Members Engaged! Many Chapters circulate E-News highlighting events, HR issues and members. An annual membership magazine or annual report tells an important story to the membership.

Share Your Member Roster To make networking easy, many Chapters maintain an online membership roster with pertinent data about fellow members. Current members can access the directory and add/edit their profile at any time.

Make Your Web Site A Go-To Place! Don’t underestimate the value of your web site where members can surf for information, learn about events, or discover job opportunities.

Make Membership Well Worth the Investment Be able to share an elevator speech on all those benefits.

Student Members Serve An Important Role Just as in our work world, having talent in the pipeline for Chapters is critical, especially as we begin to engage our Gen Y professionals.

Outreach to Local Small Businesses Many small businesses do not have an HR Professional but they will broaden your perspective and engage a wider audience in your Chapter.

Team Up with Community Partners It’s a way to build chapter recognition and make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.

Diversity Helps Drive Membership Innovative program ideas to attract, engage, and grow a diverse membership has a lasting impact.

Innovative Programs Speak Volumes Programs like “Members in Transition” and innovative approaches using social media and other tools is an attention grabber.

So, what do we do now? Never forget that little things can and do make a big difference Create epidemics (good ones) Be conscious of The Law of the Few, The Power of Context, and The Stickiness Factor -- they apply in Chapter settings as much as anywhere Apply these concepts and use the tools we all share
