About Leo -Leo is from Hubei Province, China. -He enjoys playing video games. -His favorite food is spicy Chinese food. -He likes SNHU because people are very friendly around campus.

What Leo told us about school in China… Teachers are very strict. You must learn English in order to move on to college. The day begins at 6:30 a.m. The day ends at 6:00 p.m. The only break is from 12:00-2:00 p.m. for lunch. A difficult test must be passed in order to move on to college. The core curriculum only consists of science, math, and language (Chinese and English). Throughout grade school, children are required to study English for ten years.

What we learned from Leo: Families in China are allowed no more than one child per household. If people in Hubei Province want a pet, they must pay a monthly fee. Chinese males wear a female Buddha around their neck for good luck. Chinese females wear a male Buddha.

Our time with Leo in the Penmen Room During our class period in the Penman room, we learned about the International Students background and they brought aspects of their culture with them to share with us. In turn, we also brought parts of our culture, focusing on holidays.

Our time with Leo in the Penmen Room We brought in candy to show what Halloween was like in America. We also brought in paper with scissors to show Leo how to cut out snowflakes, like so many of us had learned growing up Brought in family photos to share with Leo

Similarities between us all: We were both very interested in each others cultures. Though we are from very different places, it was so nice learning about the way they lived in comparison to us. We are all studying at SNHU to get our four year degree so we can go out into the working world

Conclusion We enjoyed our time with Leo. We were able to make a real connection with him. It was a very good experience as a whole and we look forward to meeting with Leo again in the future.

Goodbye! Leo taught us to say goodbye in Chinese.
